Whether it is a gate, ball or butterfly valve, the extreme pressures and corrosive elements that valves are exposed to can create leaks in the system; this can lead to costly onsite repairs.

In some cases, for higher pressure valves or ones exposed to corrosive gases or fluids, a gasket or O-Ring cannot be used as the sealing approach. When two high precision metal surfaces need to be mated, different surface textures are required to avoid galling. Our L compound has provided superior cut rates and finishes for a wide range of seating applications. Our slow drying formulations allow for few charging cycles with increased cut rate compared to other compounds.  Also, our diamond slurries and lubricants are well known for their quality in the precision polishing of the balls themselves.

CASE STUDY Repair of Severe Service Ball Valves coated with Tungsten Carbide. GOAL: Increase throughput and decrease leak test failures.  Finish below 4 Ra required to pass leak test. PREVIOUS COMPOUND: Unrefined diamond, fast drying. Match lapping of seat/ball, manually and by machine.  Frequent scratches during progressions resulted in repeating steps, scrap of some balls/seats due to depth of scratch or lack of coating thickness.  Compounds dried out quickly resulting in excess application and each step needed to be repeated numerous times.  Excessive force required to get cutting action. Up to 15% failure rate at test stand. With use of Engis Hyprez Diamond Compound errant scratches during progressions was eliminated.  Longer useful life per charge (no drying out) with faster cut rates and less pressure.  Doubled run time between charges. Reduced number of charges by 20% and 15%.  Improved operator ergonomics.  25% reduction in lapping time. Test stand failures below 1%.  Increased plant capacity for repairs due to less rework.
