Honing Products (Bore Finishing)

Traditionally, the inside diameters and bores of components have been brought into finish and geometry tolerances by the honing process. Honing utilizes a reciprocating motion during which a tool expands and contracts during each cycle. The tools wear with use, and the process must be constantly adjusted to compensate for this.
By contrast, the Engis Single Pass Bore Finishing system, utilizes precision electroplated superabrasive tools, which do not require expansion and contraction for the finishing process. Engis Bore Finishing tools are capable of achieving, in standard, blind, and semi-blind bores – geometries to within 0.00002”.
